Our History

In 1985 Pine Valley Retirement Community PROMISED to build a vibrant and active retirement community for seniors in the Tuscaloosa, Alabama area. In 1986 we DELIVERED this promise, & one year later, moved our first resident in.

Our vision for providing quality Independent living and Assisted living care to seniors began with local people planning and building Pine Valley Retirement Community. Twenty-five years later, members of this original group serve on the Board of Managers providing stability, continuity, and decision-making at the local level.

"Pine Valley Retirement Community has been a big part of my life since 1985 -- when Pine Valley was but a dream and 800 Rice Valley Road, North was still a pine thicket.

Without wavering, we began construction in early 1986 and completed construction in early 1987. The first four ladies moved to Pine Valley in November 1986. "
